HISTORY

SMK Agama Tun Ahmad Zaidi successfully established on the struggle of the leaders of the Muslim community in Kuching in Sarawak especially having the awareness to promote Islamic education in the state. Muslims should have a knowledge of the world and Islamic education to enable them to advance in all aspects of community life and become respected by other people in this multiracial country. The establishment of these schools also aim to create quality and Muslims to Islam faction leaders who would continue and sustain its existing leadership of Islam today. Before the school was founded, Datuk Abdul Rahman College (SEDAR) was created to provide opportunities for Muslim children who fail to pursue their studies in government schools for failing in exams 'Common Entrance'.

But when the 'Common Entrance' was abolished in 1974, was closed SEDAR.
SEDAR closure has not deterred Muslim community leaders to continue their struggle for the development of Islamic education in the state. Establishment of Darul Falah in 1981 which aims inter alia to develop education among the Muslim community in Sarawak once again provide an opportunity for Muslim community leaders to realize their aspirations. Anis bin Haji Severe grandfather who was appointed as the President of the Sarawak Islamic Council in 1985 has sought to continue the fight local Muslim community leaders to set up religious schools in the state.

The effort that the establishment of the Islamic Council of Religious Primary School in 1985. The process of its formation is accelerated when the parents pupils SK (A) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan increasingly urged the Council to set up an Islamic religious secondary schools to enable children they continue secondary education in the same school. The success of the Honourable Datuk Abang Haji Johari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg and the Honorable Mayor Anis bin Haji Severe in convincing the state government at that time about the importance of the establishment of this school and the way his administration is very significant.

Following the success of the exercise, the Sarawak Islamic Council has appointed the late Haji Khalid al- Kaderi as officials who will be responsible for handling the registration and safeguard the interests and needs of the school. The school is registered as a government-aided schools. With the Sarawak Islamic Council in Sarawak Islamic Religious Department will be responsible for the physical development of the business, and professional curriculum, placement students and teachers are under the control of the Sarawak Education Department. While the main objective at that time was a prelude to place students in SK (A) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan, but in line with its intention to produce a quality community, the school has also received students from primary school of around Kuching at that time.
The new school opened it was boarded several classrooms in SK (A) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan until permanent premises were completed in 1997.

On January 31, 1997, the school was moved to the new premises adjacent to SK (A ) Agama Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan on the site of 80 acres with a total construction cost of RM20 million. The school was inaugurated on May 19, 1997. In accordance with the provisions of the Education Act 1991, all secondary schools have become secondary school, the school was renamed to NATIONAL SCHOOL OF ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS COUNCIL Sarawak. During the celebration of his 10th birthday on June 6, 2001, the school was named NATIONAL SCHOOL OF RELIGION Tun Ahmad Zaidi as a commemoration of stature, contribution and service, al-late Tun Datuk Patinggi (Dr.) Ahmad Zaidi Adruce bin Mohammed Noor Yang di- Speaker of the State's five.
