Syndromes of the stomach

The stomach functions to receive and digest food. When its qi descends, its function is normal. So pathological changes of the stomach often manifest as dysfunction of its qi in descending and as poor digestion.

The spleen and stomach dominate reception, digestion, transportation and transformation by sending the " clear " upwards and bringing down the " turbid. " They serve as the source of qi and blood, which nourish the whole body. That is why the spleen and stomach are called the " source of acquired constitution. "
