Diffusive He-Ne laser radiation was applied to auriculo-acupoints in cavum conchae -on two ears such as points of heart, lung, mouth and Sanjiao. The light spot of laser was 15 mm in diameter. The patient was on the position of one meter away from laser tube with 20 mw output power. The treatment was given once a day, each ear was irradiated for 5 minutes, the cases selected for observation were recurrent throughout the year. 32 cases consisting of 15 males and 17 females had been followed up.

The observations showed that 7 cases had excellent effects without any relapse of the disease for more than one year, accounting for 21.88%; 8 cases were freed from recurrence for three months after treatment, amounting to 25%; the other 15 effective cases proved that the duration of ulcer healing was shortened, pains diminished and recurrence decreased, making up 46.89%, but 2 cases failed, accounting for 6.25.% The cases mentioned above received 6.5 treatments on the average. In addition to recurrent aphthae, 6 patients were cured in other diseases. With laser radiation on auriculo-acupoints, those who had contact dermatitis, seborrhea dermatitis, chronic gastritis and low fever, neurasthenia and migraine were remarkably relieved.

Laser radiations on auriculo-acupoints may have great influence on meridians and nerves via photoelectricity, photochemistry and electromagnetic fields, therefore, they may promote the immunity and regulative functions of the organism. The method is effective in offering anti-inflammation, relieving pains, improving congestion, helping healing and inhibiting ulcer occurrence.

The above facts prove that the method used is better than other comprehensive therapies in total effective rates and forward therapeutic results (P<0.01). It is even more indicative for multiple aphthae and ulcer at the back part of the mouth where laser is rather difficult to get in.
