LASER ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture and moxibustion are the precious legacy of traditional Chinese medicine. The progress of modern science promotes the development of acupuncture and moxibustion, and the emergence of He-Ne laser acupuncture gives a prosperous prospect for acupuncture and moxibustion. Satisfactory curative effects in treating common diseases were obtained by using He-Ne laser acupuncture in our hospital.

In this report 180 cases of rhinitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, gingivitis, etc are reviewed. These diseases were treated by combining the method of selecting acupoints according to the course of meridians with that of selecting local acupoint or acupoints in general. For rhinitis, Hegu and Yingxiang were selected; hharyngitis, Lianquan and Renying; bronchitis, Zhongfu, Feishu, Shanzhong and Tiantu and parotitis, Yifeng, Jiache and Hegu. Acupoints were irradiated with He-Ne laser. Its facula was 0.2cm: The penetrative depth in the tissue was 1,5cm. The wave-length of He-Ne laser was 6328 A. The laser output power was 2mW, and lasting for 5 minutes.

Of the 180 cases treated with He-Ne laser acupuncture, the curative rate was 42.2% (76 cases); the effective rate was 52.8% (95 cases) and the ineffective rate was 5% (9 cases). The total effective rate was 95%. The effective rate for pharyngitis was 93.3%, rhinitis 93,5%, and bronchitis 95.6%. The curative effect for acute inflammation with a short course of disease was better.

Treating diseases with He-Ne laser acupuncture makes no pain but yields sedation. It is easy for the patients to accept the treatment. Owing to its small power, there is no side-effect. Treating disease by combining He-Ne laser acupuncture with regular acupoint stimulate the meridians, regulate the flow of vital energy and blood, and increase the body's capacity against diseases so that specific and common antibodies are increased, to strengthen the protective functions and capacities- Through the clinical observations of the 180 cases of common diseases, it is thought that He-Ne laser acupuncture is simple in performance and causes no pain. It is easy for the children those who are afraid about acupuncture to accept He-Ne laser acupuncture. The curative effect for the inflammatory diseases is satisfactory.
