To explore the relation between differentiation of symptoms and signs of traditional Chinese medicine and the effects of acupuncture anesthesia, we have performed 117 cases of abdominal total hysterectomy under acupuncture and combined acupuncture anesthesia. In observing operator, acupoints, differentiation in deficiency of kidney and the observers are all relatively stable.

Results

(1) According to differentiation in deficiency of kidney before operation and the effects of anesthesia, in 117 cases of hysterectomy, the effects of those who were with deficiency of Shen Yang are better than those with deficiency of Shen Yin (p<0,05).

(2) We have observed the analgesia, muscular relaxation and reaction of viscera traction in 49 cases of hysterectomy under acupuncture anesthesia. The effects of those patients who were with deficiency of Shen Yang are better than those who were with deficiency of Shen Yin.

(3) Blood analysis was made before or after operation in 33 cases of deficiency of Shen Yang type under two kinds of anesthesia mentioned above. The data showed that the regulation activities are more active. There were no statistically significant difference before or after operation in those cases with deficiency of Shen Yin type. (4) The plasma cortisol levels in 11 cases of hysterectomy were monitored. Their blood samples were collected by veinpuncture at 0:00 midnight and 8:00 in the morning. 6 cases of them were differentiated in deficiency of Shen Yang and 5 cases of the in deficiency of Shen Yin. There were statistically significant difference in the former six cases, and no statistical difference in the latter five cases.

(5) In 18 cases of hysterectomy under acupuncture anesthesia, blood samples were collected at 30 minutes and 240 minutes after operation, and measured the ratio of cAMP and cGMP. There was a significant difference in 12 cases of deficiency Shen Yang, P<0.05. No statistical difference can be found in 6 cases of deficiency of Shen Yin type P>0.05.

(6) The recovery of mental attitude and health conditions after operation of the patients with deficiency of Shen Yang were better than those with Shen Yin.

Result of observations showed that healing effects for deficiency of Shen Yang is remarkable and it goes along with the saying," Deficiency Yang is easy to be recuperated," And healing effects for deficiency of Shen Yin is less remarkable, it goes along with the saying, "Deficiency Yin is difficult to be cured."
