ENURESIS BY ACUPUNCTURE ON GUANYUAN AND SANYINJIAO

According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, it was suggested that enuresis was related to abnormality of the function of the three Foot-Yin meridians, the Renmai and Kidney, triple burners, small intestine and urinary bladder meridians. So the Guanyuan acupoint of small intestine meridian, the intersection of three Foot-Yin meridians and Front Midline meridian and Sanyinjiao, the intersection of three Foot-Yin meridians were selected.

Acupuncture treatment of enuresis. Combination of these two acupoints in cooperation so as to make the effects better.

In 230 cases, there was male 144 and female 89. The oldest ones were 20 years old and the youngest ones were 4 years old,

Method: Stainless steel filiform acupuncture needles No. 32 were used. After sterilization of acupoints by 75% alcohol, inserting the acupuncture needle rapidly. Moderate stimulation when needling reaction appeared retain the needle for 20-30 min. The treatment was twice a week and 10 times for a course.

Results: Recovery (enuresis has been controlled completely) 92 cases; significant effectual (enuresis was decreased in eight or nine cases out of ten) 29 cases; improvement (enuresis decreased for 50%) 78 cases; ineffectual 31 cases. The total effective rate was 86.5%

Most of the 92 recovered cases occurred within one course, except 11 cases who recovered through 2-4 courses of treatment. In 29 significant efficacious cases, they acquired the effect of treatment within one course except 10 cases who acquired the effect through 2-5 courses. 65 cases of the improved cases occurred after 10 times of treatment, and another 15 cases of them improved through 2-3 courses. In 31 ineffective cases, 20 cases received treatment for 4-10 times, 10 cases received acupuncture treatment for 20-30 times.
