Analgesic effect by acu-laser was a general physical effect. We used it to study the forecast of the analgesia effect by acu-laser and to observe the relationship between the pain tolerance threshold and the mean dosage of analgesia in the combined acupuncture anesthesia for gastrectomy.

13 patients of gastrectomy with the combined acupuncture anesthesia were observed. "Zusanii" point by acu-laser before operation was used and pain tolerance threshold was explored and changing rate of pain tolerance threshold after acu-laser was detected.

1) If the basic pain tolerance threshold of the patient was high, and the pain tolerance threshold was raised. The analgesic effect of the combined acupuncture anesthesia was good.

2) The relationship between the basic pain tolerance threshold and the mean dosage of epidural anesthesia during the combined acupuncture anesthesia for gastrectomy: If the basic tolerance threshold was high, the mean dosage of analgesia in the combined acupuncture anesthesia was less than that of the patients, whose basic pain tolerance threshold was low. For example, when basic pain tolerance threshold was over 1 mA, the anesthetic mean dosage was 8.0± 1.8ml, but when the basic pain tolerance threshold was 0.25 to 0.49 mA

This method can be used to forecast the analgesic effect in the combined acupuncture anesthesia for gastrectomy.
