(VIP Package)
This was a truly a great resort. From the beach, grounds, pool, room and the VIP service it was top notch. Now I'm not saying it was perfect because we did have a few problems, but overall it was great. Now I'm also not sure what it would be like without the VIP package.
The beach, swimming area and pool were also the best we have seen in Punta Cana. The waves can be a bit rough at times but as long as youre careful this can be fun. We especially liked the size and layout of the pool, which never seemed crowded. The swim up bar is separate from where the water sports are played and the childrens section. There is also a smaller pool off the lobby which is very quiet and private. Hardly anyone used it.
The buffet restaurant was OK not great but OK. Some days were better then others. While we were there the Chopin was also open for breakfast, so you didnt have to head up front just to eat. Also at lunchtime there were 3 places to eat at the beach area. So there were plenty of choices. With the VIP package we ate most nights at the A La Carte restaurants instead of the buffet. One day I even called to book for that same evening and there was no problem. We even got to eat twice at Licey, which was great both times. In fact all the A La Cartes were good. Our least favorite would be the Chopin, which is really just another buffet, and our favorites would be Licey and La Pescado. The snack bar in the beach restaurant section offered great snack food and although there was sometimes a line, it moved very quickly. The fried chicken was as good as or better than KFC and the French Fries as MacDonalds.
Our maid was great our room was kept very clean and decorated with flowers and was usually done before 11 am. Towels and sheets were changed on a regular bases and beach towels were delivered to our room every day (VIP service). The staff were generally very friendly and hard working. But again with a resort this size the extra personal service weve noticed and enjoyed in the past was missing at times.
< Villa 74

    Our View>
The very spacious room with a nice size sitting area and terrace was the best room weve had in our trips south. The lighting in both the sitting and sleeping areas was very good. The mini bar was kept stocked daily (VIP) with water, local beer, and 4 cans of pop. We were located in villa 74 right off the beach. Although we were on the back side of this villa we did have a beach view from our balcony. The main problem we had with the room was the lack of hot water. Some days at certain times it was all right but mostly it was lukewarm at best.
Although we usually had no trouble with the transport system we did find it a nuisance and found the resort to be a little too big. We got lost a couple evenings coming back from the lobby In fact the nights we ate at the A La Cartes located at the beach area we didnt even bother going up to the front at all in the evening.
Overall we really liked this resort and seriously looked at going back in 2004.  It is one we will always look back on fondly and will compare others too. The last day, sitting in the pool at the pool bar with hardly anyone else around we wished we had another 2 weeks to go. Who knows another year we may return here.
