The story of how I became a fan is pretty weird. It's also how I became a silent film buff, and the reason why I'm becoming a filmmaker. In the sixth grade I was up well past my bedtime, flipping channels through endless reruns of Police Academys and infomercials, when I happened upon an old movie channel, probably American Movie Classics or something like that. I saw a young girl in a department store, carrying pots and pans and stumbling to get to her counter. After losing her slip and sticking her foot in one of the pans, she finally gets to the counter. A beautiful, happy looking youth came to the counter, and she proceeded to sell him balloons (don't ask me). Her customer? Charles Rogers. The movie was My Best Girl, and i've been in love since.
