Belinda Emmett. 1974-2006.
This week, like so many others, I am mourning the loss of Belinda Emmett
to Breast Cancer.
Belinda Emmett played Jodi Horner, a Ward Clerk on All Saints in 2001. Her
character was much loved by the entire All Saints fandom. She also played
Rebecca Nash in Home & Away, and starred in the Australian film, ‘The
Nugget’.
Belinda, like so many others, was an Idol of mine. Not only for her
talents as an actress and singer, but as a person.
My heart goes out to Rove McManus, The Emmett family, and all of Belinda’s
friends and admirers. To loose someone with such courage and such a beautiful
personality is truly devestating.
I was a fan of Belinda’s pre Home & Away. Growing up on Umina
Beach, not far from my
house, she was part of Gosford Musical Society, she stole the stage as a teen. Although I was just a child, I have and
always will remember her in ‘The Gingerbread Man’. She was a
star.
Breast Cancer claims the lives of 2500 women a year. I do not know anyone
who has not been affected by this tragic disease in some way.
Rove and Belinda’s family have asked that Donations be Made to the McGrath Foundation which
provides support to BreastCare Nurses.
Also, Make sure to purchase this weeks Who Magazine. It has Belinda on the
cover, and 10c from every sale goes to the foundation.
Pink Ribbon Day may be over, however the National Breast Cancer Foundation
accepts donations all year around.
Over the past year my friends and I have found a great way to make regular
donations to the foundation. By joining online Market Research groups such as
YourVoice
you can earn ‘points’ which in turn you can donate to
charity. These take little time to complete, but may just help in finding a
cure.
In celebration of Belinda’s life, the
Emmett family have made her single Less Than Perfect
