Chapter Nine:
"Uhh, guys, I honestly don't know how to tell you this," Ali said nervously as Spring and Sarah stood outside the condo, wondering why Ali had dragged them out there.

"Ali, you can tell us anything, come on, you're our best friend," Sarah said.

"I know, I know, but I know you're probably gonna kill me because of what's happened," Ali said, turning around to face the ocean and not her friends.

"Ali, just tell us already," Spring said, getting anxious.

"Okay.  As I said, I don't know how to say it, so I guess I'll just show you it."  With that, Ali held up her left hand, showing her friends the engagement ring on her finger.

They were stunned.  Their mouths hit the sand below their feet.  "Tell me that's not an engagement ring on your finger," Sarah said, scared as hell for some reason.

"Well, it is," Ali said quietly.  Then she looked up and smiled.  "Nick and I are getting married," she said, practically glowing.

"Oh my Lord," Spring said.  Sarah just looked at the ring, then at Ali's face, then back at the ring, then she fainted.

"Well I didn't expect that," Ali said as she leaned down to see if Sarah was alright.

<~~~>

"Guys, you're probably gonna kill me right now," Nick said as he sat down on the couch.

"Why would we kill you?" Brian asked curiously.  Nick had been acting strangely all day, and he wanted to know why.

Nick decided to take the blunt approach.  "Because Bri, I want you to be my best man."

"Hey, thanks man, I'd be glad to..."  Then it hit him.  "BEST MAN?!?  Wait a minute, tell me you're joking," Brian said, staring at Nick.

Nick was grinning.  "Nope, I'm not kidding.  Ali and I are getting married."

"I think I'm gonna have a heartattack," AJ said, putting a hand to his chest.

"Nick, are you positive about this?" Kevin asked, not wanting to believe him.  "You haven't known her that long, and you've only been dating a week!"

"Kev, I'm positive.  I want this.  I love her so much, she's the one, I know it."

"Nick, you're only eighteen.  Are you absolutely, positively, sure that you wanna spend the rest of your life with her?" Howie asked.

"Yes, guys, I'm sure!  Don't you believe in love at first sight?  I felt something I've never felt before when I met her, hell, when I first saw her.  She's different.  And she means the world to me, and if you guys can't take that, then I think I should be leaving," Nick said, getting angry and standing up to leave.

"Honey, why don't we go back to your condo?" Nick asked, stepping outside.

"Sure, I'll see you guys later, okay?" Ali said, looking to her friends.

"Yeah, we'll stay here.  Later Ali, Nick.  Oh, congradulations Nicky!" Spring said.

"Thanks," Nick called over his shoulder as he put his arms around Ali's waist and walked behind her.

<~~~>

"I don't understand it, why would he want to get married?  He's only eighteen years old!  Hell, when I was eighteen, all I wanted was to get laid," AJ said, sitting back in his chair.

"Thanks for the info, sweetie," Sarah said sarcastically.

"I'm not like that now!" he exclaimed, putting his arm around Sarah.

"Guys, this is serious.  Nick is getting married.  MARRIED!  This cannot be good for him, or his so-called 'image,' " Kevin said, leaning on two legs of his chair.  "Hell, I'm nine years older then him and I'm not married."

"Well, I, for one, support it," Sarah said.  "Ali has never been happier.  I have never seen her smile so much then she has this past week.  When she's with Nick, she's a completely different person.  She loves him and she wants to spend the rest of her life with him."

"I don't know.  I mean, who knows what they're doing right now, as we speak?" Brian said, looking over to the wall that connected the girls' condo with the guys'.
