Chapter Ten:
"I can't believe them," Nick said as he paced in front of Ali, who was sitting on the couch in her condo.

"Nick, honey, stop walking back and forth, you're getting me dizzy," she said, standing up and grabbing his arm to stop him.  "Calm yourself.  They guys were probably just a little stunned, that's all."

"You're right," Nick sighed, putting an arm around Ali's waist.  "Eventually, they'll warm up to it."  Nick paused for a quick laugh.  "Kevin's probably going crazy now, the guy's nine years older than me and he doesn't even have a girlfriend."

Ali laughed.  "He's probably gonna have a mid life crisis at age twenty-six.  That can't be good."

"Yeah...  Hey, why are we talking about Kevin?"

"You got me, you were the one who mentioned him," Ali pointed out.

"Oh yeah.  Well, let's not talk about him," Nick said, pulling Ali closer to him to kiss her.

Immediately after, Ali yawned.  "I am soooooo tired," she said, resting her head on Nick's chest.

"You sound it.  Let's get to sleep," he said, leading her to her bedroom.  "You don't mind if I stay here tonight, do you?"

"Yeah Nick, I do mind," Ali said sarcastically.  "Why would I want you in my bed, I mean, you're only my finacee."

"Ha ha, very funny.  Move over," he said to Ali, who had stretched herself across the queen sized matress.

"Okay, okay, just don't sit on me, that would hurt."

"You're quite the funny one, aren't you?"

"Yep.  Let's sleep," she said, curling up next to Nick.  He kissed her forehead and threw an arm around her, and the two were asleep in a matter of minutes.

~*~*~

At about five in the morning, Ali felt someone's knee digging into her back.  She opened her eyes to see Nick sprawled out across the bed.  She thought nothing of it, removed his knee, and tried to go back to sleep.  Two minutes later, she felt his arm moving.  She moved her head right before he would have hit it.  "Okay Nicky, I'm gonna sleep on the couch before you hurt me," she muttered to a sleeping Nick before moving to the couch.  She tried to sleep again, but soon after, a pillow hit her in the stomach.  She opened her eyes and looked over at Nick, whose arm was hanging over the side of the bed as if he had thrown something.  She threw the pillow back, hitting him in the arm.  The pillow flew back five minutes later.  She threw it back, only to have it hit her in the head soon after.  This went on for twenty minutes before Ali threw the pillow on the ground and put her own over her head to block out Nick's newfound snoring abilities.  She finally got to sleep, but two hours later, Nick woke up.  He went to put his arm around Ali, but she wasn't there.  He opened his eyes to see her curled up in a ball on the couch next to the bed.  He got up, picked her up from the couch, placed her on the bed, and layed down next to her, putting his arms around her stomach.  Ali smiled at Nick's touch, but remembered his horrible sleepng habits.  She knew he was still awake, so she turned her head to look at him.  "Hi," he whispered.

"Hi yourself," she replied.  "You have horrible sleeping habits, did you know that?"

"Do I?  I had no idea.  Is that why you were on the couch?"

"Yeah, that's why I was on the couch and only got two hours of sleep.  A pillow hit me more than once, thank you very much.  You have quite an arm, you should be playing baseball."

"Oh, honey, I'm sorry, I didn't know what I was doing," Nick apologized, hoping he didn't hurt her.

"It's okay Nicky, I'm fine.  I just want more sleep, I'm exausted, I got like, four hours and I need eight or I become a not-so-nice fiancee."

"Then go to sleep," Nick said, kissing her on the forehead.  Suddenly, he got an idea.  He sat up and went to the bathroom, and grabbed a few towels.  He rolled them up as Ali looked at him with a confused look on her face.  "Tie me up," he said, sitting down on the bed.

"Huh?"

"Tie my feet and hands to the bed, I won't kick or anything then."

"Okay, whatever you say," she said, while tying his hands above his head.

Twenty minutes late, Ali was half-asleep.  Nick was still struggling against the towels.  All of a sudden, he stopped moving.  She turned toward him and looked him over, she was scared he had had a heartattack or something.  She put her hand under his nose to see if he was breathing when Nick blurted out, "What are you doing?"

"Seeing if you were alive, don't scare me like that, all of a sudden you stopped moving."

"Sorry.  I can't sleep too well.  But don't untie me, I wanna get used to not moving."

"Okay, whatever you say."  Ali layed back down from her sitting position and curled up against Nick.  He looked down at her, and wanted to put his arms around her.  "Sweetie, untie me," he said quietly.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."  Ali untied Nick's hands and feet, and he put his arms around her stomach.  He didn't move for the rest of the night.
