Chapter Thirty-Five:
"What in the world are you people doing?" Hallie asked Justin and Ali, who were currently bouncing up and down on the bed in Ali's hotel room.

"Having...  fun..." Justin said in between bounces.  "Wanna... join... us?" he asked, jumping off the bed.

"Umm, that's okay, I was just checking up on you two," Hallie said, leaning on the door frame.  "JC asked me to ask you if you guys are going to the after-party...  We're leaving in like, an hour, if you wanna come with us."

"I dunno... Als, you wanna go?" Justin asked Ali, who was still bouncing on the bed.

"Sure...  Just... lemme... get... ready..." she said, never ceasing her bouncing.

"Where do you get all that energy?" Justin asked, turning toward Ali.  "You have been bouncing on that bed for two hours now.  That's gotta be some kind of record."

Ali smiled and stopped bouncing.  "Ha ha.  I'm bored, what can I say?" Ali asked, stepping off the bed.  "Woah," she said, tripping over the blanket that Justin had thrown off the bed earlier.  She "just so happened" to land right in Justin's arms.  "Thanks," she whispered as Justin wrapped his arms around her.

"You're welcome," Justin replied with a smile.  He lifted her up and twirled her around.  "You're WHAT?  Did you say you were BORED on the 'N Sync tour?  Bored?  Uh uh, I think not," Justin said.

"Hey, will you put me down?  Justin, come on, I don't like being up this high, you're very tall," Ali complained before Justin set her down on the ground.  "Thank you."  She turned to Hallie, who was standing by the door with an amused look on her face.  "What ARE you looking at?"

Hallie stifled a laugh.  "Nothing, nothing.  You know Als, I swear, if there weren't a ring on your finger, you and Justin would be perfect together.  And don't take that as being mean to Kev, I love him like a cousin."

"That's because you
want his cousin," Ali said, ignoring Hallie's "perfect" comment momentarily.  "Why don't you just call Brian and apologize already?  You are miserable without him and I'm sure he's going through his own personal hell.  You read the reviews for the first few Backstreet concerts; Brian's performance is off.  Because he misses you."

Hallie shook her head.  "No, Brian and I...  We're just not...  I dunno," she said, not wanting to believe Ali, though she was right and she knew it.

"Whatever.  Justin, this is your cue to get out, cause me and Hall are gonna make ourselves beautiful," Ali said, shooing Justin out of the room.

"Good.  I'll be sure to tell JC...  Though I'm sure he'll say something along the lines of 'They're already beautiful,' which is completely true."

"Thank you captian obvious," Ali said, now pushing Justin out the door.  "But you have to get out now, so bye bye bye!"

"Bye bye bye?" Justin asked as the door slammed in his face.  "You know, that's a cool idea for a song!"

"Damnit Brian, you have got to stop acting like this!" AJ said, pacing in front of Brian, who was sitting in a chair backstage.

"What am I supposed to do?" Brian shot back, beginning to get pissed.  "She left me.  For an 'N Sync'er, no less.  How am I supposed to act like everything's normal in my life when it so obviously isn't?"

AJ sighed and sat down on the couch opposite Brian.  "I don't know, man, I don't know.  If Cathy ever left me than I have no idea what I'd do," AJ said, staring into space.

Brian looked up.  "So you two have Officially started dating, huh?"

AJ grinned.  "Yep."

Brian shook his head with a smile.  "Man, you are so smitten, I don't know how she puts up with you."

'Neither do I, but I'm damn glad she does.  But come on Bri, you read the reviews...  Even the fans know something's up.  And when the fans realize something, it's time for you to realize something.  You have GOT to call her!  Before I go crazy from everyone asking 'How's Brian doing?' all the time, please," AJ said, returning to the subject at hand.

Brian sighed.  "No, Hallie and I...  We're just not...  I dunno," Brian said, not wanting to listen to AJ, though he was right and he knew it.

AJ stood up in frustration.  "Whatever man, whatever.  Almost show time, you ready?"

"Pretty much," Brian said halfheartedly.

"Now PLEASE don't screw up like you did yesterday, you almost made Howie fall off the stage," AJ said, walking out the door.
