Chapter Twenty-Seven:
Hallie sat in her room, staring blankly at the television.  MTV was on, but she wasn't paying much attention to it.  Brian had come by before to try and apologize, but she wouldn't let him, her door remained locked.  Everyone had tried to get her out of her room, to no avail.  After an hour of trying, they gave up for good.  Hallie was pissed off at the fact that Brian wouls spaz out at her like that, he had never yelled at her before.  Everyone knew that she loved to dance, and Brian, well, hated to...  And she just wanted to have fun.  And dancing with JC had been fun, he was a pretty good dancer.  And he seemed like a nice guy.  She honestly couldn't see why Brian was so jealous; he had absolutely nothing to be jealous about.

Suddenly, a video on MTV jolted her to attention.  It was for Larger Than Life, the newest release from BSB.  She cringed at the sight of Brian and grabbed the channel and turned it to VH1.  She was about to fall into her incoherent state once again, but she was once again jolted to attention by the VJ.

"And next on VH1's Teen Idols Countdown is the number five spot, belonging to none other than 'N Sync."  Hallie jerked her head up abruptly to see a performance of what was obviously I Want You Back in the middle of Times Square.  There was a croud of what looked to be thousands, but what could have been no more than about seven hundred screaming little teenyboppers, for lack of a better word.  Hallie watched as the teenage girls screamed, cried, and reached out to their idols, and was stunned.
Was I like this with New Kids On The Block? she asked herself.  I certainly hope not... those girls are nuts! Hallie shook her head in confusion and was about to change the channel when the camera suddenly cut from the performance to an interview.  'N Sync was being asked some stupid question and JC was the only one who actually wanted to answer intelligently.  It was obviously about the fan hysteria, because the camera kept on going from JC's face to the croud of teenyboppers.  Hallie wondered what all the fuss was about; JC seemed to be a normal, down to earth guy.  She looked at the girls that had JC's name written across their faces and shook her head.  She had had enough for one night.  She turned out the light and quickly fell asleep.

"That was sooooo much fun!" Lily exclaimed as she and Nick ran from the bowling alley, headed toward his car.

"I know," Nick laughed, leaning on the truck.  "I can't believe we just went bowling.  And you're wearing a dress!"

Lily giggled.  "I went bowling in a dress before."

"Oh really?" Nick asked.  "When was this?"

"After my Junior Prom," she said with a smile.  "We went Cosmic Bowling at this place...  It was fun.  We got the rental shoes free, too."
(LOL HEATHER & CASSIE!!!!!)

"Cool," Nick said.  He really was beginning to like this girl.  He was sorry he hadn't given her a chance when he was in California.  "So, what do you wanna do now?"

"I dunno...  Maybe we should get back home, it's like 3:15 AM."

"Probably," Nick said, not wanting his night with Lily to end yet.

Where are they? Cathy asked herself as she paced the floor in front of the window.  Where could they have gone?  I thought they were coming home after the party.

Cathy had been waiting up for Nick and Lily since one o'clock.  And it was now three-thirty-three in the morning.
She was conetmplating calling Nick's cell phone and had gone so far pick up the phone and dial the first three numbers, but she couldn't being herself to do it.  She was about to try and get some sleep when she heard the now familiar sound of Nick's truck pull into the driveway.  She looked out the window to see Lily getting out and thanking Nick for a fun night.  She couldn't make out their next words, but she saw Lily smile at Nick flirtily (Hey-is that a word?).  The next thing she knew Nick was baking out of the driveway and Lily walking into the house.  She decided to confront Lily about it the next morning, she was too tired to argue with her about all the reasons she should not get involved with Nick Carter.
