Chapter Twenty-Five:

"Oh wow, Kev, look!  There's R. Kelly!" Ali said excitedly.

Kevin looked above Ali's head and saw R. talking to a few people.  "Yeah, that's cool.  We met him a while back."

Ali turned toward him.  "You met him and you never told me?  I love R. Kelly!"

"You wanna meet him?" Kevin asked innocently.

"I couldn't I mean, I'd never know what to say," she started babbling.

Kevin rolled his eyes.  "Yeah right.  You, not knowing what to say?  Sure.  Come on, let's go," he said, pulling her toward the star.

"Hey, AJ, you meet anyone interesting lately?" Cathy asked.

AJ thought a moment.  "Well, not lately.  But I did live by Britney Spears if that counts for anything."

"Yuck.  I pity you, boy," Cathy said, sticking out her tongue momentarily in disgust.

"I pity her boyfriend even more," Jamie said, pointing toward a corner, where Miss Britters was sitting in front of a curly-haired singer who had plastered a look of boredom and annoyance on his face.  "And I NEVER pity Justin Timberlake, you guys know that."

"I know.  But for some reason, I think I pity him at this point," Cathy said, watching Britney try and keep control over herself, while at the same time trying to keep Justin's attention span from wandering.  Which was not working very well.

"Hey, I'm gonna go and dance," Hallie suddenly said.  "Come on Bri, let's go," she continued, trying to pull Brian to his feet.

"I don't dance, you know that," he said, pulling back on Hallie's hand.

"Yes you do, you do it onstage all the time," Hallie said, now whining.

"That's not the same thing as bumping and grinding down to Sisqo," Brian tried to defend himself.

Hallie gave up.  "Fine.  Than I'm going by myself.  Later sweetie," she called over her shoulder as she walked away.

"Hey, wait a second!  That is not what I was planning on," Brian muttered to himself as he looked around the empty table.  "Why does everyone leave me?"

~On the dance floor...

Hallie was dancing around like a maniac, but she looked good doing it.  Ali and Kevin were dancing near her and Kevin looked over at Hallie.  "Wow, she's a good dancer," he stated, watching Hallie get down.

"And I'm not?" Ali asked playfully.

Kevin turned his full attention to his fiancee`.  "No, that's not what I mean, I, uh-"

"Quiet, you know that I'm being sarcastic," she said over the music.  She smiled at Kevin before turning to watch Hallie, along with half of the room.  "Yeah, she's good.  She's our resident Dancin' Queen.  Has been for years."

~Across the room, at Britney's table...

"Man, I'm bored," JC whined to Justin after Britney had stopped "discussing" hers and Justin's relationship.

"So?  I am too, but I can't go anywhere.  Why don't you go and dance?"

"With who?"

"I dunno, nor do I care for that matter..."  Justin trailed off, scanning the dance floor for people JC might be interested in, just to get him off his back for once that night.  He found someone, wesring a fire-red dress that would have matched Joey's hair perfectly and smiled.  "How about her?" Justin casually said, pointing toward the petite brunette.

JC turned around in his seat to look where Justin was pointing.  He saw One of the most gorgeous girls he had ever seen in his entire life.  She was dancing with a few people, and JC knew he had to be one of them.  "Thanks man, thank you sooooo much," JC said quickly as he got up and made his way to the center of the dance floor.
