Chapter Eighteen:
"Hey, what in the hell..." Ali said as she felt herself being picked up.  She opened her eyes to see Kevin grinning and running toward somewhere with her.  "Kevin, what the," she started to say before being thrown into the ocean.  The two had unpacked and decided to spend the day at the beach, since Kevin and she had plans to go to a club that night and they had to kill the day.

When she surfaced, there was a piece of seaweed on her head, which made Kevin start to crack up, of course.  "Not funny," she said as she removed the seaweed.  "And why did you do that?"

"Because you looked hot, I thought you needed to cool off," he said innocently as he stopped laughing.

"Well I wasn't, I was TRYING to get a tan, thank you very much," she said, crossing her arms and standing up in the waist-deep crystal clear water.  "And now I am wet.  Thank you sweetie," she said sarcastically.

"Come on honey, it was a joke," he said, walking up to her and putting his arms around her waist.  "I'm sorry if I got you wet," he said with a puppy dog face.

She couldn't resist that face, of course.  A smile cracked her face as she said, "Okay, just don't look at me like that, jeez, you look like a lost little puppy."

"That is why I'm giving you that look, sweetie."

Ali rolled her eyes as she moved out of Kevin's grasp.  "I'm gonna get dry and tan a bit, okay?"

"Sure.  I gotta work on my surfing anyway," he said, following her out of the water.

"Yeah right.  Just don't hurt yourself, okay?"

"Yes dear.  Jeez, I'm beginning to think we're married, you're already telling me what to do," he said, smiling.

"Funny.  Now surf and get better at it," she said, kissing him on the cheek.

After about ten minutes, Ali realized she needed more sun tan lotion because her back was beginning to burn.  She sat up and fumbeled around in her bag for the bottle.  Nick happened to walk up the beach at that moment, still searching for Ali and Kevin.  His prayers were answered when he saw Ali having trouble with the bottle, trying to twist it open.  He smiled at her efforts and was about to walk over to her when he saw Kevin headed toward her, grinning.  So he ducked out of the way and put on his hat and sunglasses as a disguise.  He watched as Kevin sat down next to her and easily opened the bottle for her.

"Okay, what do you need lotion on?" Kevin asked, holding the bottle.

"My back, it's starting to burn," Ali said, turning around.

"Okay," he said, taking the lotion and rubbing it into her back.

Nick saw the smile appear on her face as Kevin touched her back and he wanted to kill Kevin.  More than anything, he wanted to be Kevin.  He wanted to be the one giving her a back rub, he wanted to be the one she came to see in California, not the one she left behind in Orlando.

"You like?" Kevin asked as he heard her moan softly.

"I like, damn Kev, when did you get so good at that?" Ali asked.

"I dunno, I'm just naturally good at it," he said, kissing her on the cheek.

Nick could take no more, and he decided to actually enjoy himself and go swimming.  When he ran into the water, he didn't realize he was about to run into someone.  But he realized it when he hit her.

"Sorry," he muttered.

"No problem Nick," the girl said.

He recognized the voice and looked up.  It was the girl from the airport, Lily.  "Hey, I remember you," he said, smiling.

"Yeah, me too.  Did you find out where Kevin and his girlfriend are yet?" she asked.

Nick cringed before answering.  "Actually, yeah I did.  They're out doing something, they decided to ditch me for some reason."

"Oh, well that's too bad," Lily said.  "I'm always here if you wanna hang out with me," she said, hopefully.

"Uhh, thanks," Nick said, looking over his shoulder at Kevin and Ali, who had begun to make out.  Nick was about to throw up.  But he turned his attention back to Lily and said, "You know what, I think I'm gonna get back to the hotel, I'm not feeling too good.  I think it's the salt air or something.  Catch you around Lily."

"Yeah, later," Lily replied, knowing he was lying to her through his teeth.  She had already seen Kevin and his girlfriend, they were sitting on the beach right behind her.  And him getting sick because of the salt air?  Salt air her ass, he lived in Tampa Bay.  Whatever he was after in California, he apparently was not getting it or getting near it, otherwise he probably would have been in a better mood.
