Chapter Seventeen:
"Okay.  If I were Kevin, and I'll be damned if I don't wanna be right now, then where would I be staying?" Nick asked himself out loud in the middle of the busy airport, where he had recently landed.

"I don't know about Kevin, or whoever he is, but I know I'm staying at the Hyatt," a female voice said from behind him.

Nick spun around to see a smiling girl that was about twenty or so with long light brown hair and bright green eyes.  She put this amused look on her face as she continued.  "Nick Carter talking to himself.  Now that's a story for the tabloids.  I'm sure they'd love to find out that the most popular Backstreet Boy has gone off the deep end.  I'm Lily Baker.  And yes, I know who you are, and don't ask how, I could point you out a mile away with less then perfect vision."

Nick was stunned that this girl was so forward.  But he remembered how to smile and shake her hand and say, "Hi Lily."

"Am I wrong or did you mean Kevin Richardson just now?" she asked.

Nick thought quickly and came up with an excuse within moments.  "Actually, yeah.  Our hotel reservations got screwed up and now I don't know where he's staying and I have to pick him up."  An idea burst into his head at that moment.  "Yeah, I have to pick him up.  Him and his girlfriend," he said, hoping she'd pick up on Nick's hint and tell everyone she knew that Kevin was dating someone.

She did.  "Kevin has a girlfriend?  Wow, he never mentioned it before in any interviews or anything.  Man, my friend Alecia'll be pretty pissed then, she's in love with him.  (hehehe, had to add it...)  Anyway, you need any help finding him?  I know all the hotels around here, I've lived here for years," she said, eager to spend time with Nick.

"Uhh, nah, that's okay, I'll find him.  Thanks anyway," he shrugged, wanting to find Kevin and Ali already and get the hell out of this airport.

"Oh," she said, dissappointed.  "Well, I guess I'll see you around, then," she said, walking away.

"Yeah, later," he said, looking around the airport, wondering if they might be there.

"AJ, will you stop it, that *gasp* tickles!" Cathy screamed as AJ continued to tickle her mercilessly.

"What was that Cath?  Didn't hear ya, you're gonna have to speak up a bit," AJ said calmly.  The two had gona to a park to rollerblade, and after getting tired, they sat on the grass, and AJ had the brilliant idea to tickle Cathy.

"I said stop, damnit, and if you don't stop, then I am going to pee my pants!"  (Cassie has pants, hehehe!  :-)

"Okay, okay," he said, stopping.  "Better now?" he asked as she sat up and straightened her shirt out.

"Much, thank you," she said, staring off into space.

"Can I ask you something?" AJ suddenly asked after about ten minutes of watching the sunset.

"Sure," she said, still staring into the sunset.

"Why do you hate us?"

She suddenly was jolted to attention.  She turned toward AJ and gave him a small smile.  "I don't hate you guys, not at all.  You're four of my best friends.  Nick on the other hand..."  She trailed off on her last word.

"Why is he in Cali?" AJ asked, well knowing it was because of his cousin.

"To chase after Ali, more then likely.  I have no problem with it, actually.  He can chase after her all he wants, it's no skin off my back," she snorted.

"I thought you were dating him," AJ replied.

"I was.  I'm breaking up with him as soon as I can get a hold of him, his cell's turned off.  I don't care very much anymore, I really don't."

"I gotcha," he said, playing with the lace on his rollerblade.

"AJ, what's up with you and the Ali and Kev situation?" Cathy asked, wanting to know his real opinion on it.

AJ scratched the back of his neck in thought and paused a moment before answering.  "I dunno.  Ali can make her own decisions.  And that crack about the therapy after the party a few weeks ago may have come from her just being pissed off, but it probably would be true if I didn't get over it.  Therapy for that long wold be very expensive, and I don't feel like paying someone to listen me babble.  I could always babble to you for free."

"Hey, what makes you think I'm free?  Or cheap for that matter?  I'll be sending you a bill within the week, and I take cash, check or any major credit card," she said seriously.

"Tell me you're not serious," AJ said as he watched her face.

"I'm not, you freak.  You do need help, and not from me," she said.

"Maybe not.  Maybe you need help.  Maybe I could help you," AJ said, taking her hand.

"Be more specific," she said, wary of his answer.

"In English?  I'll make you forget all about Nick and Rob and Wes, trust me," he said, leaning over to whisper in her ear and pausing to kiss her on the cheek.
