Chapter Six:
"God must have spent, a little more time on yooooooouuuuuu," Justin rambled.

"No, Justin, stop.  You're not hitting the right note.  It's supposed to be lower.  Try going a half note lower," Ali said, trying not to lose her patience with Justin and his slightly squeaky voice.

"I'm trying, but it's hard," he said into the microphone.

Ali took a deep breath.  "It's okay, just try a little harder, okay?" Ali said slowly, so as not to scream at him.  She knew he could hit the lower note, he did it ten minutes ago.

"Okay," he said, clearing his throat.

Today is going to be a long day, Ali thought to herself as she grabbed a bottle of Advil.

"So, honey, what are we doing tonight?" J.C. asked Ali after everyone had left the studio.  Ali was trying to mix God Must Have Spent at the time, and she was not having a good time of doing it.

Ali sighed purely out of being tired.  "I dunno, what do you wanna do?" she asked J.C.

J.C. sensed that she was exausted, Justin was giving her a hard time that day, and she probably didn't want to deal with anyone or anything at that point.  "How about we just stay in?  I'll rent a movie or something," J.C. suggested.

"That sounds good," she said, slightly pre-occupied with the mixing board.

"I'll go now, and I'll meet you at your place in, say, twenty minutes?"

"Yeah, that sounds good," Ali said, turning her attention to J.C.  "Oh, and get some popcorn while you're at it, I ran out a few days ago."

"Okay sweetie.  See ya soon," J.C. said as he kissed Ali on the cheek.

"Bye hon," Ali replied.

Twenty minutes later, J.C. was at Ali's penthouse on Broadway, waiting for her.  But she didn't show up.
She's probably just still mixing, J.C. thought.  J.C. knew how she got when she was in the middle of something, she never wanted to stop.

But she still wasn't there an hour later.
Where the hell is she? J.C. asked himself as he looked out the window for what seemed like the thousandth time in ten minutes.  He gave up on looking for her through the window after five more minutes, and decided to call her cell phone.  Why didn't I think of that earlier? J.C. thought as he dialed her number.

"Hello?" said an unfamilar voice on the other end of the phone.

"Uhh, can I speak to Ali Morris?" J.C. asked, confused as hell.

"Who is this?" said the voice.

"This is J.C. Chasez, her boyfriend."  He began to worry at the voice's tone.  "Where's Ali?  What happened?"

"Mister Chasez, I have some bad news for you," the voice said sadly.

"What?  What happened to her?  Where is she?  Is she alright?" J.C. asked, in a panic.

"She was in a car accident.  She's at Cedar Siani Hospital, she's in ICU right now.  Mister Chasez, are you alright?"

"I...  I'm fine," J.C. said, trying not to cry.  "I'll be there in a half an hour."

"Okay.  She's on the eighth floor, you can see her when you get here.  Oh, and my name is Julia Tucker, I'm the head nurse here.  Just ask for me, and I'll show you where her room is."

"Thank you.  Bye," J.C said, already running out the door.

I just found her again, he thought.  And I am not going to lose her now.
