Chapter Seven:
"Hi, my name is J.C. Chasez and I'm looking for the head nurse, Julia Tucker," JC said in a rush, babbling to whoever was behind the front desk on the Intensive Care Unit floor of Cedar Saini.  (Tell me I'm spelling that right...)

"That would be me," the nurse said, extending her hand.

JC was so frazzled that he almost forgot how to shake her hand.  "Where's Ali?" he asked, not caring if he appeared rude or not, only worried about his girlfriend.

Julia sadly shook her head.  "So sad," she muttered to herself while looking the desk in front of her.

JC paled.  He didn't know what to say, he was stunned.  "Wha...  What?  Where is she?" he asked, in a panic.

"She's in room 322, but I'm not sure if you can see her right now," Juila said sadly.

JC ran his hands through his hair in frustration.  "Can you at least tell me what happened to her?" he asked, ready to scream at the top of his lungs.

"I'm not sure of all the details myself," she said, looking around.  "But her doctor does.  I'll page him for you, if you'll sit down," she said, apparently trying to get JC calmed down before he spoke to anyone.

He shook his head and sat down on a chair across the room obidently.  He tried to clear his head and calm down, but not knowing what had happened to Ali still plagued his mind.  After a few minutes, what seemed like the longest few minutes of his life, a doctor came out and introduced himself as "Doctor John Haggerty.  Mister Chasez, I think you better sit down," he said as JC shook his hand.

JC sat down and tried to prepare himself for the worst.  He had just found her again, and there was no way he wanted to lose her.  "She was on twenty-fourth street when a semi ran into her.  He said that he didn't see her until it was too late, and he tried to stop, but trucks don't stop that easily."  Doctor Haggerty paused to see if JC was alright and following.  Seeing that he appeared to be okay, he continued.  "She has a concussion, and she is currently sleeping.  She has a few broken ribs and some cuts and bruises, but other then that, she doesn't have any major injuries.  She was lucky, I'm surprised with the extent of her injuries, she should have been hurt more.  She gave us your name and the names of four other people, but we couldn't get in touch with you.  Be happy you called."

JC was thankful she was alright.  A weight had been lifted off of his chest when the doctor said that she only had a few broken ribs and a concussion.  Those were bad enough, but hey, at least she wasn't dead.
(A.N.  And I was seriously contemplating her death, but the story would have ended too soon.)  "Can I see her?"

"She is sleeping now, but if you want to, then okay."

"Thank you so much," JC said, shaking the doctor's hand quickly as he sprinted to Ali's room.  He looked in the window and saw Ali sleeping, with a worried expression on her face.  He opened the door quietly and shut it behind him.  He tried not to wake her up, but he remembered that a door opening and closing would wake her up.
(A.N.  This is modeled after me, a door opening and closing makes me wake up and I have no idea why.) She stirred before opening her eyes, and when she did, she focused on JC sitting on a chair by her bed.

She smiled as she said, "Hello."

She struggled to sit up as JC said, "No, honey, don't, you broke a few ribs."

"Well then, gimme a hand, help me up," she said, still struggling to sit up.

JC knew he could not win, so he put a hand on her back and helped her sit up.  She smiled at him, then said, "Where's the popcorn?"

JC laughed.  "At your place, where I said it would be an hour ago."

"When can we go and eat it?  I'm hungry," she replied with a smile on her face, which now had a few cuts on it.

"I'll go and check, be right back," JC said, getting up to exit the room.  Before leaving, he ran back to Ali and kissed her softly on the lips, and said, "I love you."

Ali smiled back at him and said, "I love you too."
