Chapter Four:
Leigh left for Justin and J.C.'s house at seven-twenty that night.  She was ready to party, she was wearing a short black skirt and a dark blue baby tee.  She was hoping that J.C. wouldn't have a date with him, so she could at least get to dance with him.  When she got to their house, she found them with Joey outside in the driveway playing basketball, waiting for Chris and Lance to arrive.  "Hey guys, what's up?"

J.C. turned around to see who was talking, and saw the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in his life standing before him.  "Wow.  Leigh, you look great," J.C. said, trying to conceal the fact that he wanted Hayleigh as much as he wanted her when he was seventeen.

Not one to be outdone by J.C. in any way, Justin said, "Yeah, girl, you look amazing."

"Thank you," Leigh said as she walked up the drive and stole the basketball from Justin.  "Where's the rest of you guys?"

"Lance is picking up Danielle, his girlfriend, and Chris is just plain late.  Hayleigh, you do look very beautiful," Joey replied.

"You guys, you're making me blush, stop it," Leigh said, making a vialliant effort not to blush from the guys' comments about her outfit.

"I think not, sweetheart.  You're cute when you blush," J.C. said, putting an arm around Leigh's shoulders.

"Sure."

"Hey, why don't we all go inside to wait for the guys?" Justin said suddenly.

"Sure, why not?" J.C. said, smiling down at Leigh.  With that, he walked away, with his arm still around Leigh's shoulders.

That was not my plan, Justin thought as he reluctantly followed J.C. and Leigh inside.

"So, Leigh what have you been up to with that dancing of yours?" J.C. asked while he was giving Leigh a tour of the house.

"Not a lot, actually.  Britney's is my first video, and I haven't done a lot of other stuff.  I've taped a few things for MTV, but that's about it," Leigh said, looking at a bunch of old pictures in the hallway.  "Oh my, I remember this one," Leigh said, pointing to a picture of J.C. and Leigh at a taping of MMC, after they had started dating exclusively.

"Yeah, so do I," J.C. said, coming up behind Leigh.  There was an uncomfortable silence between them as they both struggled with the quesions that needed answers.  "What happened to us?" J.C. finally asked.

"We just drifted apart, I guess.  After I moved to New York, there was no way for us to keep in touch, it was impossible.  You and the band, and me and my dancing... it was just too hard,"Leigh said, not turning around just yet.  She couldn't face J.C. yet.

"I know all that," J.C. said, gently turning Leigh around to face him.  "I mean
US.  There was once an us, and I want there to be an us again," J.C. said, pleading with his eyes.

"You do?" Leigh asked, in amazement.

"Hayleigh, I've always been in love with you.  That's why you were my first.  I know it seems like who a guy's first doesn't mean much, but it meant so much to me that it was you.  Heyleigh, you're my everything.  I want to be with you so much, I wish I could re-live these past four years and go to New York with you.  I wish I didn't have to be in the band so that I could have been with you."

"J.C., don't ever wish that," Leigh said, placing her hand on the side of his face.  "You are meant to sing, and sing you will.  With or without me.  As for US, I don't know, maybe we should give it a try.  Considering I'm here to stay now, and you're not going anywhere for quite some time, no tours or anything, right?"

"Right, we're here for six months, until we have to go back to Europe.  Should we start right where we left off?  I know I wouldn't mind," J.C. said, a small grin lighting up his face and his eyes twinkling mischievously.

"Maybe," Leigh said.  "I haven't been with someone for, well, four years."

"Neither have I, I was waiting for you to come back to me," J.C. said.

"Well, I'm here," Leigh said, as J.C. leaned over and kissed her.  It was then they realized they had wandered to J.C.'s bedroom while they were kissing.  "Hmm, I wonder what we're doing here," Leigh said sarcastically.

J.C. could only shrug.  "One can only imagine," he said, continuing to kiss her as he picked her up and placed her on the bed.  Once she showed no signs of stopping, J.C. began to kiss her more and more urgently.  Until he heard a voice from downstairs yelling, "Guys, they're here, let's go!"
