you'll be relieved to hear that my little mini-vacation did wonders for my mood. i'm a new woman... i feel great. plus, the most annoying creep at work is out until the tenth - so that doesn't hurt. and my favorite creative director is back in town. life is good.
we spend most of the holiday at paul's cabin... the weather was gorgeous, for a change, so i was able to bake in the sun for three days - one of my favorite-est things to do. we built a fire-pit in the yard.... something which their cabin has been lacking for several years apparently. i think a cabin just isn't a cabin without a campfire every evening to drink and chat beside.... so paul and i took it upon ourselves to remedy the situation - it was a big hit!
yesterday we were back in town for the actual fourth of july.... so we went down to the warf and had drinks and watched the fireworks... very fun! |

it's getting closer and closer to our *real* vacation. on the 28th we (paul and i) go down to charleston, sc to see my family. my folks live there, but this time all my aunts and uncles and cousins will be there too. it's a reunion of sorts for my dad's side. we're renting a big beach house that can hold everybody - i'm super pumped about it - it's almost all i've thought about for two months.... since we got our plane tickets. we only get to stay for four days because we used up most of our vacation time when we went to mexico in february but it's better than nothing. we're flying into myrtle beach (which is about an hour and a half north of charleston) because for some reason flights going to there are always a lot cheaper.... and then we're renting a convertible to drive down the rest of the way. i'm really excited to see everybody - and for them all to meet paul. i haven't seen a lot of them for 3 or 4 years. i have a really great family - not everybody can say that. i'm related to a group of really cool people. i actually love to spend time with my folks.
my family loves to drink - we're professional partiers.... must be the german in us. that's part of what makes them so much fun, i suppose. |

paul found these funny little blobby things in his fish bowl this morning.... we decided they were egg sacks from the snails - they didn't waste any time! so, he sucked them out with this tube thing we use to clean the tanks with. we don't need any more snails. now i feel like a murderer.... although it's much easier to do when they're still eggs, i must admit - i don't think i could deliberately kill a live snail. we decided while we were at the lake that we can probably take them there when we gett too many... we found a couple in the water, so we know they can survive there.
i talk about my snails way too much, don't i? |
