i love long weekends, don't you? it's so nice to finally have a job where i can take advantage of such things. i always used to work in retail or food service, and you never get to take advantage of any holidays in either of those fields. i remember last year during summer, i was so excited, i could hardly believe it was true... i got to go to grand olde days without having to work at it... it's a one-day event held on a saturday early in june, where they close off an entire street in saint paul and have bands, and food and beer and when it's sunny out it's really a ball. grand olde days is one of my favorite summertime happenings... but in the past, i've always had to work. (i've had a lot of jobs on grand avenue - and all the local businesses contribute to it - but no more!!!)

i'm so excited - someone i DON'T KNOW signed my guestbook. this being a fairly new journal, i wasn't really sure if i had any readers (other than my out-of-town friends) - now i know i have at least one. how thrilling! so, if you read my page, and you don't know me (even if you DO know me) please sign the guestbook or drop me an email.... i really love to hear from people. plus i checked out her page, which is really fun to do - check it out.

paul keeps teasing me that he's going to start his own page entirely of rebuttles to mine - that way i can link it and you guys can get a kick out of our little arguments. plus, it would enable me to be more honest if he's done something that's upset me... as it is i don't really like airing out any dirty laundry in a public domain, but this would give me a reason to do it. i can't decide though, if i think it would be healthy, or destructive. what do you think?

he also jokes that he might start a web page all about the myths of 3.2 beer. you see, i'm from iowa, and in iowa we are only allowed to sell 3.2 beer... i never realized until i moved to minnesota, that some states are different. here, for instance, the beer can go as high as 6.0 but, you have to go to an actual liquor store to get it, however, the liquor stores close at 8pm on the weekdays, and 10pm on friday and saturday (in iowa you can buy alcohol up until the bars close at 2am)... plus in iowa you can buy alcohol in grocery stores and gas stations... here, you can't...UNLESS, of course you don't mind 3.2 beer. the thing that makes me laugh about all this is, if you are with a minnesotan, and it's after the liquor stores have closed, and you suggest going to the gas station for beer - they are absolutely APPALLED at the idea. "But, that's only 3.2", they'll say... a minnesotan would rather go without, than drink 3.2 beer...i don't get it. maybe they're afraid it makes them look like a redneck to the gas station clerk or something... i don't know.
