you know how when there's a car stranded on the side of the road, it always has bright orange writing on it.... well, it wasn't until embarrassingly recently that i realized that the cops do that. i saw a cop writing on one not that long ago. i think up until then i thought they were always cars that a dealership was going to sell and somebody took it for a test drive and it got stranded. it was always a funny thought to me, like, i guess THAT car didn't get sold. stupid - i guess i didn't put all that much thought into it... i never realized that they ALL  have that writing or i would've realized that they can't all be from a used car dealership. duh.

don't you all love it when i reveal my stupidity to you.

paul recently dug his old '71 Datsun 240Z out of the garage...  he bought it over 10 years ago... i guess it used to be the car he drove around all the time, but now it's his "fun car". we stopped at his house after lunch and took it out. he washed it and drove it back to work. it's loud and it makes us smell like gasoline - i love it. i think that smell is nostalgic for me because my grandpa and my uncle were both mechanics and that smell was always around... car smells are good smells.

it's a super nice day. sunny and 70's. a little windy for my taste though. this weekend paul and i are going up to his family's cabin for memorial day. i'm really looking forward to it. i hope it's sunny so i can get a tan. i wish they had a dock we could swim out to, though. that's one of my favorite things to do at a cabin - swim out to the dock and lay in the sun. i wonder if they're gonna want to go waterskiing... probably not yet, too cold. you have to be 10 years of age or under to jump in the water this early in the year. kids don't seem to feel the cold... they're too busy having fun.
