yesterday, cory called me in the afternoon - she's home for awhile because she and her boyfriend aren't doing well, so they're taking some time apart. she ended up going to the airport with me to pick up my brother.

from the beginning it was an interesting night. he told me his flight got there at 5:00, and when we got there, he never got off the plane, so we asked the lady at the counter and she said he was on the next flight coming in at 6:30 - so we went and got a beer while we waited...when he got there he was already hammered and the reason he was on the next flight was because he missed the other flight.

well, immediately he wanted to stop at a bar, so we did that before we even left the airport - and he must've started lighting up his cigarette 3 times before i would remind him there was no smoking in the airport.

as i suspected might happen, the lady at the hotel gave us the wrong directions. there was no exit of the name she told us coming off of 35W - but luckily we found it anyway, after a couple of extra turn arounds. when we got to the hotel dan's friend wasn't there, but he left the gift of an economy sized bacardi, and a 12 pack of cokes...lucky for dan...not so lucky for me.

well, we only stayed until about 9:30, be/c cory and dan fought for almost the entire time...they don't see eye to eye much, and my brother can be a really mean drunk. she took it in stride, though, i was proud of her.

i don't mean to complain about the whole evening, there were some good parts, i guess. i'm beginning to realize that i'm definately not going to have any control over what he drinks on saturday, however. he and his friend are staying, and i'm sure they'll come fully supplied with booze.

i guess i may as well just stop worrying and go with the flow - it'll all be over soon enough, and it might not be so bad. hopefully his friend will keep him in check - we'll see.

it was great to see cory, though. she might hook up with paul and me this evening as well, so they can get to know one another. she's bummin' pretty bad...apparently her boyfriend has been a bit abusive - mostly in the emotional sense. he's quite the controller...and he's depressed besides, so he flies off the handle at the slightest thing. he's also a spoiled football player, so he expects cory to be at his every beck and whim....ya know, sinces he's supporting her and all...jerk.

what i really need and want right now is to just spend the weekend with paul.....alone. but, it looks like the social calendar is filled. cory is staying with her folks and she's stir crazy to get out of the house whenever possible - so i feel sort of bad for her, and i need to be availabe. i'm going to try and pick up dan and his friend as late on saturday as possible, so i don't have to put up with his drunken antics for the WHOLE day.
