Revelation - Chapter 14

Compile starting 18th December 2002.

  1. Then I looked, and there was the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, with him were 144,000 people who have his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. (Where can Mount Zion be if verse 3 is correct? Mount Zion also in heaven? Mount Zion the throne?)

  2. And I heard a voice from heaven that sounded like a roaring waterfall, like a loud peal of thunder. It sounded like the music made by musicians playing their harps.

  3. The 144,000 people stood before the throne, the four living creatures, and the elders; they were singing a new song, which only they could learn. Of all mankind they are the only ones who have been redeemed.

  4. They are the men who have kept themselves pure by not having sexual relations with women; they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been redeemed from the rest of mankind and are the first ones to be offered to God and to the Lamb. (It seems women are out of place in heaven. This is because Spirit is named as man and has no gender.)

  5. They have never been known to tell lies; they are faultless.

  6. Then I saw another angel flying high in the air, with an eternal message of Good News to announce to the people of the earth, to every race, tribe, language, and nation.

  7. He said in a loud voice, "Honour God and praise his greatness! For the time has come for him to judge mankind. Worship him who made heaven, earth, sea, and the springs of water!"

  8. A second angel followed the first one, saying, "She has fallen! Great Babylon has fallen! She made all people drink her wine--the strong wine of her immoral lust!"

  9. A third angel followed the first two, saying in a loud voice, "Whoever worships the beast and its image and receives the mark on his forehead or on his hand

  10. will himself drink God's wine, the wine of his fury, which he has poured at full strength into the cup of his anger! All who do this will be tormented in fire and sulphur before the holy angels and the Lamb.

  11. The smoke of the fire that torments them goes up forever and ever. There is no relief day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, for anyone who has the mark of its name."

  12. This calls for endurance on the part of God's people, those who obey God's commandments and are faithful to Jesus.

  13. Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Happy are those who from now on die in the service of the Lord!" "Yes indeed!" answers the Spirit. "They will enjoy rest from their hard work, because the results of their service go with them."

  14. Then I looked, and there was a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was what looked like a human being, with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.

  15. Then another angel came out from the temple and cried out in a loud voice to the one who was sitting on the cloud, "Use your sickle and reap the harvest, because the time has come; the earth is ripe for the harvest!"

  16. Then the one who sat on the cloud swung his sickle on the earth, and the earth's harvest was reaped.

  17. Then I saw another angel come out of the temple in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle.

  18. Then another angel, who is in charge of the fire, came from the altar. He shouted in a loud voice to the angel who had the sharp sickle, "Use your sickle, and cut the grapes from the vineyard of the earth, because the grapes are ripe!"

  19. So the angel swung his sickle on the earth, cut the grapes from the vine, and threw them into the wine press of God's furious anger.

  20. The grapes were squeezed out in the wine press outside the city, and blood came out of the wine press in a flood two hundred miles long and about five feet deep.

King James Version

14:1    And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
14:2    And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
14:3    And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
14:4    These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
14:5    And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
14:6    And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
14:7    Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
14:8    And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
14:9    And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
14:10    The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
14:11    And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
14:12    Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
14:13    And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
14:14    And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
14:15    And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
14:16    And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
14:17    And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
14:18    And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
14:19    And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
14:20    And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

V1 - Where can Mount Zion be if verse 3 is correct? Mount Zion also in heaven? Mount Zion the throne? Mount Zion is the Mark on our forehead.

V4 - It seems women are out of place in heaven. This is because Spirit is named as man and has no gender.

V8, 9, 10 and 11 are to confuse readers. Great Babylon is referring to America. See chapter 17. Verses might mean that if you follow American democracy you will be punished. American democracy allows you to have pornography, sodomy, lesbianism, sexual immorality, lewdness etc etc.
