Tolkien Timeline - The Shaping of Middle-earth
This Timeline is in permanent construction.
Suggestions are welcome.
It is based on the latter annals that preceed _The Hobbit_ (the
Earliest Annals of Valinor , in pages 262ss, with
the date changes of page 272s, and
the Second Version of the Earliest Annals of Beleriand ,
in pages 327ss..., with additions from the other texts). Since
J.R.R. Tolkien liked to change the dates by chunks of 100s,
whenever I have to borrow dates from other texts, I try to keep
the congruence module 100.
Christopher Tolkien, in the Preface to TSoMe, dates those texts
at "some time in the 1930s"
I've added the data in The Genealogies, of _The Lost Road_.
Since the dates there correspond to the First version of the Earliest
Annals of Beleriand, I shifted them by 100 years
