AUGUST 5, 2002

Early in the morning we had to disembark the Dawn Princess, and boarded a train for Anchorage.  During the four hour trip we passed more mountains, rivers, and glaciers.  Upon arriving at Anchorage we went to the airport, got our rental van, and then drove back to Seward, where we had disembarked from the boat that morning.

When we arrived in Seward, we visited the Alaska Sea Life Center.  This education and research center was funded with money from the Exon Valdez legal settlement.  A highlight was the touch pools filled with an amazing variety of starfish and anemones.  They had pens for injured animals, and exhibits of various sea animals.  Our favorite was the sea bird exhibit where you could watch the puffins and kittewakes diving underwater for fish.
Here is Kim's Forest B & B where we stayed for two evenings.  This elegant home is not what one would expect to find in Alaska,  Our hostess, Kim, made delicious breakfasts for us, including her special pineapple muffins!  Yum!
