JULY 31, 2002
Our first port stop was Ketchikan.  It was a gray day. This is the view of the harbor and the mountains from our boat.

Our morning tour took us to Totem Bight Park.  This totem park was developed over 50 years ago.  We enjoyed the walk through the woods which took us to the totems at the waterside.

This long house gave us a view of the life of the Native Americans.
The totems were surrounded by fields filled with purple fireweed.

After our tour we spent some time exploring Ketchikan.  Many of the shops were situated on boardwalks next the the stream.  The salmon were running upstream, and frequently you could see them jumping out of the water.

Mid afternoon we left Ketchikan.  Here's a last view of the harbor as we head off to our next port in the Inside Passage.
