AUGUST 2, 2002

We were blessed with a perfect sunny day in Juneau - a rare event from what we were told.  Our morning tour gave us this stunning view of Mendenhall Glacier on our way to a rain forest walk.

Our morning tour included a rain forest walk. We learned about many plants and animals that are native to Alaska.

Almost every day we saw one or two bald eagles.  They like to sit in trees near the water.  This one was right near the road that we were walking on from the cruise ship.

Later that morning we took the Mount Roberts Tram to the top of the mountain next to the cruise ships.  We were able to look down at the ships that were in dock.

Here is the harbor and the mountains surrounding Juneau!  We hiked some of the trails at the top of the mountain.  Great views and some exercise as a bonus to burn off a few of those cruise calories!!

That evening we spent time on deck enjoying this memorable sunset.  The water and breezes were calm and we were surrounded by  blue mountains, orange sky, and purple clouds.  This picture does not do justice to the beauty of this peaceful moment.
