AUGUST  8, 2002

While our friends decided to take an adventurous ATV trip (more about that later), my brother and I opted for a more sedate trip.  We were crammed aboard this wooden boat called the Danny J for an hour cruise to Halibut Cove.  On the way we had mostly foggy views, and only saw sea birds as we passed Gull Island.
As we entered Halibut Cove, we saw Halibut Cove's most well known resident - Grandpa the sea otter.  He is called Grandpa because he is so old and white haired.  Although still wild, he likes to hang out in the calm areas around the docks in the cove.
Halibut Cove is a residental area that has a number of artists that have joined together to sell their creations in 3 galleries.  Many of the houses and galleries are joined by quaint boardwalks.  It was fun to wander and explore.

We ate on the deck of this cute restaurant called the Saltry.  After a brief stay on the island we had a wavy cruise back to Homer, and waited for Gail, Maritza, and Heather to return from their ATV trek so we could go out to eat............ and waited...........and waited...............and waited.............
