| Folks, today I want to talk about something that's been brewing the last few weeks, and that is corruption in the sporting world. A lot of you have, on many occasions, heard me rant about how professional sports is as crooked as the WWF, and y'all laughed and thought whatever. But, anyone who has been paying attention to the sporting world the last little while has seen blatant evidence of at least something "fishy" if not outright corruption. And there's little attempt to hide it now. The first true sign this year was about a month ago, when the refs overturned a call via replay AFTER another play had been run. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Just a few weeks ago, Brett Favre took one of the greatest, and most obvious, dives in the history of sport, when he laid down for his buddy (his golf buddy) Michael Strahan, giving Strahan the all-time, single season sack record in the NFL. This past weekend showed further examples. The first one was in the New England/Oakland game. The controversy is about the fumble/incomplete pass that happened late in the 4th quarter. Now, some will argue that Brady's arm was moving forward, thus making it an incomplete pass. But, when the ball was knocked loose, his hand was finished moving, and by his side - when a hand is beside one's hip and not moving, a pass attempt it is not. Pretty obvious the powers that be were behind it. They don't like Al Davis, who owns the Raiders, and they love Cinderella stories, and Tom Brady is their meal ticket. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The next example was the very next day, in the Green Bay/St Louis game. Brett Favre was pressured in the pocket, and gave a two-handed, rugby-type toss to his running back, and after the running back was in the clear for what prolly would have been a touchdown, THEN the refs blew it dead. Of course, the league's motivation for this one? After last year's horribly boring Superbowl with 2 teams built on defence and running, you know the marketing hounds of the NFL want the the most entertaining offences advancing as far as possible. Now, the next one deals with the Mike Tyson - Lennox Lewis showdown. As you know, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis are set to do battle, April 6. We all know this. What a lot of people don't know, is that they have a 2 fight agreement to fight each other. Damian and I discussed this earlier - exactly why would they have a 2 fight agreement to fight each other? Prolly cuz it's a each win one deal, then they can push for the 3rd fight worth MEGA MEGA MEGA millions, unless of course Lennox sticks true to his word and retires. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Now, last night they had a press conference to announce the fight and good old Mike didn't let us down - he went ballistic. But, in his psychotic tirade, he let the cat partially outta the bag. Here is a quote from Mike Tyson himself - "My motivation for approaching Lennox was to stage a faceoff, which I was told both camps had agreed to," Tyson said. "It was Lennox's bodyguard who panicked and shoved me. Lennox then threw a right. Although we all KNEW these things were staged, we actually have confrimation from one of the participants. On the one hand, one could say Mike is a retard and his words aren't to be taken seriously. But on the other hand, one could say Mike is a retard and is too stupid to keep his mouth shut. Folks, sports are not sports anymore. They are a business. And, like any other business, there is a bottom line. Do you not think, with hundreds of millions, and sometimes billions of dollars at stake, the powers that be want as much control as possible? |
