The 2000 Australian National Irish
Dancing Championships are being organised by the AIDA Queensland Branch
and will be held on the Gold Coast, from Monday 3 July to Sunday
9 July 2000 inclusive. This competition is only open to Australian dancers,
who are registered with their affiliated State bodies.
This will be the fifth occasion on
which Queensland has hosted such a Championship but will be the first time
that this event has been held on the Gold Coast.
The
venue -
will be the Gold Coast Arts and
Entertainment Centre, Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise which is directly
behind the Surfers Paradise Shopping strip. Due to the Olympic Games being
held in Australia in the year 2000 the AIDA has decided to conduct this
Championship in the month of July so that we don't coincide with the Games.
The 2000 National Championship will
be held over a period of seven days commencing on Monday 3rd July and concluding
on Sunday 9th July 2000. There will be solo championships for both boys
and girls together with ceili and the very popular figure dance sections.
Timetable is now available through here.
