What is ΑΓΣ?
Alpha Gamma Sigma (ΑΓΣ) is the California State Community
College Honor Scholarship Society. It was founded by Dr. William T. Boyce, Head Administrator of Fullerton Junior College, in 1925.
What does Alpha Gamma Sigma mean?
The acronym is reflective of the motto: "Add good character, knowledge, and judgement."
Alpha (Α) stands for arete which means 'character'.
Gamma (Γ) stands for gnosis which means 'knowledge'.
Sigma (Σ) stands for sophrosyne which means 'good judgement'.
