This apartment is walking distance from the Franks' former apartment.
The Gies helped the people hiding in the secret annexe six days a week (Miep worked in the office,
Jan came by every workday at lunchtime).
Unknown to Anne, they also kept a student hidden here
with them in their apartment. Jan was also helping other
hidden people through working with the resistance. Just after Otto Frank returned,
he lived here with them. Mrs. Stoppelman and
her sister also lived here during most of the
war, in the upper floors (not shown).
