The empty house had been taken over by people (an old Amsterdam
tradition) who were giving tours of it when this photo was taken!

Amstelrust is an old large house by the Amstel river,
not far from the Frank's neighborhood.
In the 1930's, Amstelrust
had a tea garden. Anne visited in June 1938, when her father
took two photos of her here: in one, she stood in front
of the house, in the other, she held a rabbit.
Perhaps it was
a birthday outing for her.
