Is the message of Anne's diary simply to not be a hater? Today's modern societies are certainly more "live and let live" than during WWII.     But there are still terrible things going on in the world. People are "trafficked," away from their poor countries, sometimes into rich, modern countries. Trafficked people find themselves trapped in bad situations with no way out. Another example: in poor countries, many children are bonded as laborers or domestic servants, unable to leave. Some products sold in modern countries were made by such children. A horror: in some places, boys are kidnapped from home to become forced soldiers, while girls are kidnapped to become forced wives..! You can learn about efforts around the world against these unacceptable situations from Anti-Slavery International (see also UNICEF regarding child poverty in general).     Ideals were dear to Anne.
