The Bertie County Regional Landfill is located about an hour north of Greenville on the outskirts of Windsor, NC in a rural are surrounded by farmland and forested land.  The capacity of the landfill is approximately 11 million cubic yards divided into four cells to be phased in over twenty years from 1993.  The landfill is managed by a private corporation under the auspices of an eight-county government in accordance with the N.C. Department of Environment, Health and Natural

Resources Permit No. 0803.
