The Fool

(version 1) Ford-Hazlewood, 1966.  Recorded: 18 & 23-08-66

Johnny Kidd (vocals) - Mick Stewart (lead) - Nick Simper (bass) - Roger Truth (drums) - Ray Soaper (keyboards)

This final cut is Kidd's definitive version of this song, originally recorded by Sanford Clark. T he 'New' Pirates musically are a tight little outfit with a good sound, which only evokes the feeling of waste fans felt not long after the accident that claimed Kidd's life.

Well gather around me people
And hold your glasses high
And drink (drink) to a fool, a crazy fool
Who told his baby goodbye

Well too late he's found that he loves her
So much he wants to die
Who'll drink to a fool, a crazy fool
Who told his baby goodbye

He needs her, oh he needs her so
And he wonders why he let her go
     Whoo hoo hooo

She's found, a new lovin' buddy
Now he's a lucky guy
Who'll drink (drink) to a fool, because I'm that fool
And I told my baby goodbye

(instrumental break)

Yeah, he needs her, don't you know he needs her so
And he wonders why he let her go
     Whoo hoo hooo

She's found, oh, she's found a new lovin' buddy
Now he's a lucky guy
Who'll drink (drink) to a fool, oh I'm that poor fool
And I told my baby goodbye
Well I told, I told my baby goodbye
Well I told, I told my baby goodbye
Yeah well now I told, I told my baby goodbye
