Barry: It is daytime. A strong breeze blows through the trees at the edge of the clearing. There are spots of rain in the air.

Rob: Standing at the edge of the forest is the giant.

Barry: The kestrel and the wolf are perched next to their appropriate stones with their backs to us. They are watching the figure.

Rob: The giant walks slowly towards the circle. As he nears we can see his features. He has a heavy brutish face and wears a soft leather hat, which is shapeless, pulled close to his head. He has not much neck and rounded powerful shoulders. He is dressed in animal furs.

Barry: The giant is followed by the figure of the girl, she is in a short green woollen tunic with leather leggings and a fur coat. She carries a spear with a flint spearhead. She is pregnant. She carries two dead rabbits in her hand. She is afraid of the giant.

There is a leather pouch around her neck. She is small with dark hair.

Rob: The giant's hands hang limp by his side, they are huge and immensely powerful.

Barry: Both figures smell strongly of the forest. The wolf and the kestrel seem disturbed by their presence.

Rob: The giant stares blankly as if unaware of external things.

Barry: The girl circles the clearing.

Rob: The giant blunders into the circle.

Barry: The girl is more reluctant and stands opposite the giant almost at our backs.

Rob: The giant approaches the maypole. He bends his knees and grips it, trying to pull it out. The girl raises her spear and throws it at the giant. Both giant and spear vanish. She turns and runs back into the forest.

Barry: The pouch that she wore rests on top of the stone she stood next to.

Rob: The Green Man looks to be aging. His foliage is starting to turn yellow. Barry:  I look in the bag. Inside are the remains of an infant. This was her magic against the shadow. The infant should be returned to the cave.

Entering the cave, it is much as we described it. The sandy floor, there is a depression in the floor. A large copper cauldron stands in one corner.

I dig a hole and put the remains inside it, then move the cauldron on top. I see an old woman spinning in a dark room. Her thread seems sticky and hard to handle. There is a strange sensation round the circle. She seems to be signifying the end of a cycle involving the girl. The circle is the spinning of her spinning wheel. I feel that I am being woven into a tapestry, bits of me are being woven together.

The tapestry has strength and depth and is woven in a complex pattern. It is easy to get lost. The weaving is like a complex dance.

Rob: Deep within the forest, the giant feels hatred. The small wound caused by the spear angers him greatly. The giant hates women. I t feels impotent and rages against it. His body is twisted, there is a flaw in his weave, both body and mind are twisted. He broods and nurses his anger.

Barry: The girl lives in a cave by a river deep in the forest. She is an outcast, made so by the giant who she hates. She is selfish in guarding her child to be.

Rob: The giant is the father, and also was the father of the dead child.

Barry: She cannot kill him, but can hurt him. She is afraid, yet drawn to him. She hides until her child is born. Their combined power is strong but the weave was flawed.

Rob: This child will also die. The cycle is endless. The scene is endlessly played out.

Barry: The kestrel knows of these two. They avoid their power. The animals cannot guard against their power, it is too strong. The giant's domain and the cave of the girl are separated by a wide river that is deep and quick flowing. They gaze at each other but dare not cross. This is one of the flaws in the tapestry. There are stepping stones but these are few and treacherous.
