Rob: The day is bright and sunny, but cold.

Barry: There is a brazier in the North. Its flames leap up high giving warmth. The day is cold but clear.

Rob: A fox mask hangs from the Maypole.

Barry: Next to it is the mask and heavy cloak of a bear.

Rob: I take the fox mask and shoulder it.

Barry: The bear gear is heavy. I put it over my arm.

I can see a woman in the trees, she is barely visible. She has a flute, which sounds very faint.

Rob: Two staffs lean against the northernmost rock. They are about 7 feet tall and end in an iron ring. I take one and head for the woman.

Barry: I take the other and follow.

Rob: She steps back.

Barry: The going is heavy and muddy. The staffs are a great help.

Rob: As we reach the edge of the forest it looks dense, although the trees are bare. I take the fox mask and put it on.

Barry: I put on the bear mask and don the cloak. At once I can hear sounds that I couldn't hear before. I feel heavy and strong. I move away into the forest.

Rob: My hearing too is more acute. Your movements seem ponderous.

Barry: My movements are heavy. Bears do not like winter, but hunger drives me from seeking a warm cave.

Rob: The fox is adaptable and makes the best of things. He should be associated with Loki the cunning trickster. Foxes are also fleet of foot. They need to be when hunted. In this respect they symbolise the threat of man to nature.

Barry: The bear has powerful aspects that should be used when defence is needed. They are wise with long memories. This form can be dangerous because the bear is a solitary creature, not working well with other creatures.

I can see the figure of the God Odin, with a bear cloak over his shoulders, leaning on a large staff.

The bear should be used sparingly.

Rob: I enter the forest and follow the flute sounds at an easy pace. I can sometimes see a figure ahead.

Barry: Each animal contains a higher and lower aspect of our personality. When we learn more of the animals, we can find out more about the shadow.

I hear the flute. It rouses me from a doze. Movement is difficult.

Rob: The fox is a good adapter and demonstrates that things can be achieved by force or cunning. The trick is to know which is appropriate.

Barry: We are standing in a clearing. In front of us is a well. Water oozes from fissures in the rocks around it and fills a pool. I can see a large black bear, with the mask superimposed on it as I look in. The well seems deep. I put my paw in. It is cold.

This is place of healing within the forest. Healing power and minerals ooze from the rocks and concentrate in this water. I feel that we will sometimes have need of this water, especially when I cut down the thorns around the shadow. Earths healing is unconditional. It is available to all who know how to find it.

Rob: I am going round and round, I feel very heavy.

Barry: I can feel the bear's dance. It is like being a large rock rolling through the undergrowth.

Rob: I can feel the slow movement of the earth. It is so powerful. The plates of the earth together.

There is stillness.

Now I become aware of pulses, little pulses of energy flickering on and off. A delicate tracery of lines connecting. Some lines running into others. Small pulses, even smaller, float above these lines, sometimes with them, sometimes erratically. They are very faint.

Barry: The rocks course as it rolls is slow and relentless. Power can be drawn from the earth because we always have contact with it. The rocks course cannot be altered or stopped, like that of the earth.

Rob: My vision of tracery has cleared. There is not one system of lines but two. They are related like the veins and arteries of earth. Energy flows out through the arteries and is drawn back through the veins. The power from the arteries is bright and expanding. That of the veins is dark and sluggish. The free-floating specks are affected by this. Those at pulsing out places are bright and positive, the others are dark. This pattern is repeated at a smaller and smaller scale until it becomes lost.

Across the lines are wounds, damaged energy caused by man, (electrical cables). There are wounds where man has fouled flowing out places. They become particularly damaged.

Barry: I can see in front of you. You are standing tall with a staff in your right hand. The web you describe stretches over you and the network joins the charkas. The staff is also part of it. Points of light float around the web.

Rob: I feel great depths in myself as though my chest were a thousand miles away from my head. I see that I'm facing the cave. In front of me is the brazier. Behind me I can see you. You are immense and solid and power flows from you.

Barry: I can feel vibrations, the sounds of the flute. The sounds vibrate between my eyes. I can see the eyes of the Green Man at the cave entrance. You are in front, you seem very tall and are surrounded by blue light which shimmers in waves.

I take off the mask and the cloak of the bear and hang them back.

Rob: The fox mask is already there.

Barry: They are absorbed into the pole.

Rob: I wore the fox mask because through it I was tricked into this vision. I was bypassed to attain a deeper consciousness.
