Imani 7, Micai 10 mos & Bryce 3 |
I have had them for 6 (but cut them after two). Imani has had them since she was 5 and Bryce 15 mos. The baby (Micai) hasn't started yet. I feel like locing our hair gives us a since of unity. People refer to us as the "Dred Family", or "You know, the family with the locs." It's beatiful, natural, and cultural. It has inspired me to start doing hair for others and bringing others over to the Nappy Side. I am looking for a talent agency to represent my kids unique look. If you or anyone has any suggestion, please let me know. Sandi |

My name is Glenda and I have been viewing your site for constant inspiration throughout my "withdrawal" from chemicals. My last relaxer was in February 2000. I cut my hair in July 2000. These are some pictures of the most common styles I wear. The first picture was in August after I finally stopped hiding underneath braids. It was too hot! I had to start wearing my fro. The two afro puffs I took in March. The small twists a friend did for me for Memorial day weekend and they looked gorgeous...I was complimented everyday. They were just too small and took forever to undo. I love to wear the twists undone. This is another style I am envied for by my peers. Keep up the good work and good luck to all my sisters and brothers who choose to be chemical free. As you can see we don't need it! |
