His genius continues through his work and he is one of the most renown Victorian writers of his time.
Charles childhood was very traumatic even by today's standards. He was in school for a short period of time until his family could no longer afford it. He was forced to leave school and work in a factory and tried to help his father pay for his debts. He was unable to do this however and his father was sent to jail. The rest of his family had no other choice but to stay in the jail with him because the family could not afford to live on their own. After his paternal grandmother died he was left enough money for his father to get out of prison. His mother wasn't quickly inclined to bring him home from the factory which leads him to mother issues which affects his attitude toward women.
The experiences from his childhood left him deeply scared. But through the therapy of writing it led him to write his greatest works. He was able to draw from personal experience with characters like in David Copperfield and Great Expectations. It made for an engaging stories with lifelike characters. Some characters may be over the top, but even they are relatable to some aspect of the human condition.
Harry Lloyd from"Game of Thrones" is his great-great-great grandson.
