Our Teaching Philosophy

ABC Daycare offers all the advantages of a Childcare Center, at much more reasonable prices and with the personalized care, love and attention Childcare Centers commonly omit.

ABC Daycare believes children best develop in environments that are nurturing and motivating. This is why we offer developmentally appropriate learning that is engaging and fun for the little ones. We believed that children retain more when they're having fun, so our programs emphasize learning through play. The curriculum is flexible enough to allow for individual growth, with enough structure to promote cognitive skills and self-discipline. This flexible approach accommodates the different rates at which children develop and helps each child develop his or her own unique qualities and character. Developmentally appropriate activities are planned for each age group. Regardless of age, a child's day is filled with a healthy mix of learning and play.

Infants

Babies require lots of caring, nurturing, love and affection. We talk to our babies, hold them and rock them to encourage their overall development. And, we work to form a basic trust bond. We show each baby that his or her needs will be met and that this is truly a wonderful new world with all sorts of pleasant experiences. Once babies learn to trust, they will respond openly and securely to new things, acquaintances, and challenges. Our infant program provides an enriching environment designed to enhance babies' development while allowing them to explore and learn at their own pace. We surround babies with attractive pictures, mobiles, colors, and soft toys to stimulate exploration. Our safe, age-appropriate equipment, and soft, cuddly toys are designed to meet each baby's special developmental needs.

Toddlers

Our curriculum for toddlers and two-year-olds provide an enriching environment with activities that are designed to enhance your child's total development in a quality early childhood education environment.

The toddler curriculum allows your one- or two-year-old to spend busy, fun-filled days engaged in activities that promote learning and discovery. Whether it's painting with their hands, making seasonal crafts, stacking and tumbling blocks, dressing up, reading stories or writing and coloring letters, your child will learn as he or she plays. We encourage our children to investigate brightly colored objects and shapes, learn the days of the week, sing along classic songs and play outdoors while getting to know Mother Nature. We play, grow and learn together.

Areas of Focus

Social skills - ABC provides children with the environment to build self-esteem, self-control and self-awareness. Throughout their day they are given many opportunities to meet with success.

Emotional support Each child is provided with affection and support from warm, affectionate and caring adults. We also encourage autonomy in each child and cooperation within the groups.

Creative and Artistic Experience - Creative expression is achieved through art, music and dance. Crafts, paintings and listening to children's classics quickly become among the favorite activities.

Physical activity ABC promotes programs that ensure children are encouraged to move indoors and outdoors. Daily program plans also engage children in periods of active and quiet play.

Mental abilities - Children need concrete experiences. Activities and materials are selected to encourage "learning by doing" with interactions that develop problem-solving skills. Television, unless supervised by caregivers, is not part of our regular routine. Our philosophy does not include television watching, unless it is an educational show under adult supervision.
