The Arabian Gulf Section of the Association for Advancement of Cost Engineering International was founded in 1980. It was established to serve the need for professional development of cost professionals in the Arabian Gulf. Mission and Vision Our mission is to advance and promote Total Cost Management in the Arabian Gulf Region Our vision is to be recognized as the best professional association for Total Cost Management in the Arabian Gulf Region.
Objectives Provide a forum for interested professionals to get together and exchange information/ideas to enhance their knowledge in the field of Total Cost Management Introduce current changes in technology to help keep abreast with the latest developments in the field Provide an opportunity to increase our members' interaction with local industries to enhance their understanding of various aspects of business in the region Encourage our members and others to become Certified Cost Engineers/Consultants.
Strategies Provide the following services to our members, their employers, and the professional community in the region to meet the above objectives: Organize technical dinner meetings with a presentation on a topic of interest Organize technical workshops/activities on current technology changes Conduct tours of local industries for our members Offer the cost engineering certification study course and host the certification exam. |

SAUDI ARAMCO RECEIVES THE AACE AWARDAACE (The Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) International presented Saudi Aramco the year 2000 Industrial Appreciation award. Ahmed Al-Arnaout, President, Aramco Services Company, received the award on June 27th in Calgary, Canada. The award ceremony was held in conjunction with the 2nd World Congress on Cost Engineering, Project Management, and Quantity Surveyors from June 25th to 28th hosted by AACE International at their 44th Annual Meeting. This international congress was co-sponsored by the International Cost Engineering Council. The Award was presented to Saudi Aramco in recognition for outstanding corporate support to the cost management and cost engineering profession and to the aims and objectives of the Association. At the awards presentation luncheon Mr Arnaout gave a brief remark thanking AACE International for selecting Saudi Aramco for this prestigious award. He mentioned that by selecting Saudi Aramco for this award, AACE has recognized the continuous support Saudi Aramco has provided the Arabian Gulf Section. He concluded by giving an overview of the Company to the audience.
BEST SECTION AWARD FOR ARABIAN GULF SECTION At the same occasion the Arabian Gulf Section also won the Outstanding Section award from AACE International, which was received by Ahmed Al-Muairfi, Vice President, Administration, AGS. This is another feather in our hat of continuous achievements. We have won the Outstanding Section Award 13 times in the last 14 years. Congratulations are due to the 1999-2000 Board of Directors led by Hassan al-Somali, President 1999-2000 for their active participation to win this award. We should keep up the good work and continue to win their Outstanding Section award in the future. This award is awarded to a Section that demonstrates true excellence in serving their members and AACE as whole. The Arabian Gulf Section members consist of cost engineers, schedulers, estimators, project engineers and other professionals interested in cost management. Our mission is to advance and promote total cost management in the region.
