The AA Institute has leased parcels of land at a moderate altitude, in the gently sloping hills of the "Chilterns" range in southern England to complete small-scale forestry, aquatic and horticulture research projects.
Below are some images of my "aquaculture" project... an artificially created habitat for marine plants and fish propagation... in a self contained wild, open and naturally exposed environment.
AA Institute objectives for the next few years include global travel and scientific research expeditions to exotic parts of our planet with real exploration, Astronomy and Earth-science type goals; seeing our home planet from a range of perspectives.
FLORIDA - 2003: Space & Earth science
This was a hugely successful trip! Probably THE most fact-filled vacation I have ever taken.
A full summary of "Florida 2003" is documented here, with picture galleries and associated links.
The last time I led an "expedition" to the US (dubbed "California-96"), we covered the depths of Death Valley (elevation -282 feet below sea level!), the Mojave Desert, Yosemite National Park, Hoover Dam, the neons of Las Vegas, sizzling hot Palm Springs, etc...
Here is a library image of a pose taken just before we boarded the MS-Dixie II steam cruiser that sailed us across Lake Tahoe, Nevada:
It all started way back in March 1994 with a trip to Arizona and parts of Utah. Here is an epic shot, taken with myself (centre) and 2 other close friends, when we were posing wearing the Sherrif's badge in front of "Elephant's Feet" - a famous rock formation and landmark:
Above: I'm inside the famous 1-km diameter meteorite crater at Winslow, Arizona. March 1994.
