With hands open in prayer, I felt God place something in my palms.  I wondered what the King of Kings was giving me. There with my eyes firmly shut in prayer and wonder, I saw with my spirit, that a beautiful crown was now lying in my hands.  Why would God give me a crown?  An ordinary woman like me doesn't wear a crown, doesn't even go anywhere that one would be required.  Crowns are for special people, Kings and Queens, or for martyrs, missionaries, people with special talents and not for me.  Just let me get inside the doors of heaven, and I'll be pleased.

I pushed the crown back towards God, but He wouldn't take it -  He kept returning it to me.  My mouth was open in wonder and I felt tired and confused.  Each time I returned the crown, He gave it back to me.  Then I  felt His amusement at the situation.  He kept on  giving and I kept returning the crown.  You know who was going to tire of this first?  At last in tiredness I was left holding a crown.  A crown fit for a princess, one to be worn by someone of beauty and grace.  Why did the King of Kings give a crown to me of all people.  Had he not seen the person that I see in the mirror?

Asking what I should do next, I felt I heard Him say 'reach for your sword, by your side'.  So I grabbed my bible and in Esther I read of a King and his queen.  The King wanted his beautiful queen to wear her royal crown and walk out publicly so all the world could see her beauty and his pride in her.  Queen Vashti was a modest woman and refused his request.

Then I understood that God loved me and saw me as His beautiful child and He wanted all to see how much He loved and cared for His child.

Isn't it funny how we keep returning the beautiful things we are given by God, and keep taking back the things we should give away.  He gives us forgiveness, but we struggle to forgive ourselves and feel defeated and of little worth.  We hand him our worldly concerns but grab them back again as soon as the first little thing goes wrong.  Like a good father God finds pleasure and joy in just spending time with His children, that's not a complicated concept, yet we don't seem to really believe it.
