... Saturday 9:00am ~ 55° ~ 5 mph wind ~ sunny...
Thea had the day off work so we went to the
Henderson Ponds, finally. We stayed until noon then went to Wendy's for lunch and came back for the rest of the afternoon until 3:00pm.
It's now being called the:
... This is the place to bird in Henderson, NV.
The Dog Pound is 500 feet from the entrance gate of the Sewage Plant.
This is deceiving because it doesn't look like you're suppose to go in here. You have to go through the chain link fence gate and go past the buildings until you see the Big Sign that says City of Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve.
There is a little trailer with a spotting scope set up in it where you park the car and sign in.
The City is still working on the landscaping.
A guy told us he spotted the peregrine falcon sitting in the middle of one of the dry ponds (13 total ponds) so an hour later when we got over to that pond sure enough it was still sitting in the middle of a 30,000 sq. ft.(small) dry lake bed. We scaried him up of course!
Again lots & lots of Ducks!!!
Neat place ~ needs to be advertised more.
