Comments: I love your home page. My
grand father was seasonal farmer and a seasonal nomade. They used to
travel from Ghirian south to Sebha and then left to alHouroug Assoud,
then, they would go to Kufra or Benghazi and then left again to Burr
Trablus. My grand father was executed in the late 20's by the Italians
(Disgrazziato) and he never knew how to read or write. When my father was
born, my grand mother was greiving over his father's execution in the
town's market, and shortly after that, my father was given for
adoption. A Libyan relative took him
for adoption. Few years passed and the little boy was handed to the
English to serve them in thier military barracks in Tripoli as a boy
servant, that is when Libya was under the British mandate. Then, my father
never knew how to read or write, but he was determined to do so. He learnt
Lingua Italiana, then English and finally ARABIC (Mahw alUmmiya). Then he
got married and settled down and had my mother deliver 10 children during
the oil boom of the sixties. In summary, illiterate are my grand fathers
and their grands too. What worries me, is, how would illiterate Libyan
families be able to raise 10 children, send them to Britain, Germany,
Canada, US, Japan, Korea, etc.. and make them Ph.D's and many more. My
answer is that no one in the whole wide world is as determined as a Libyan
from the desert. Think of this and keep up the excellent job. By the way,
I was working with Hyundai in the late seventies early eighties and find
the Koreans very good working people.
