East India Expedition!

Onestop While the girls went their own way, Xinhao, Yaoshan and I went ours. I had in mind the idea to buy a map of Penang. We found a Popular bookstore (it's in Malaysia too :)) and I bought one at $8.50. It turned out to be pretty useful (at least now we knew how far we were now from the apartment).

Lunch was at the highest floor of the building- a food court (which we thought looked somewhat like the ones in Singapore). I think I must have had fish and chips or chicken chop or something. We sat at a round table close to the foodcourt's entrance. I think I remarked that wouldn't it be funny if we just met someone we knew from Singapore and invited him or her to sit with us.
A Malaysian foodcourt

Just what do I mean by that?- although I mentioned above that the foodcourt was like one in Singapore, I think it stops at the surface resemblance (an enclosed food place). There are actually differences: the tables are actually bigger, the lighting and decoration was modest, the stalls shared a common kitchen (it forms the 'backlane' of the stalls) and you paid for the food first at the cashier. And you don't have loud music booming out of a junkbox :)

The shopping centre was quite lively, especially at the atrium space where the above picture was taken. Before we left, we went to the supermarket to grab some useful stuff (like cup-a-noodles!).
