The Journey There- Saturday

Across the Causeway�
And so we opted to get down to walk across the looonnng stretch, lunging our bags behind us. After an ordeal riddled with smoke (exhaust...), noise (the horns...) and danger (cars mercilessly zipping pass us... even at a pedestrian crossing... which was a close shave), we arrived at the Malaysian immigration checkpoint.�

And now we have an interview with my girlfriend, Yingyi, about the long trek across the Causeway...

HH: So, you sweat or not??

YY: Sweat a lot ah....very hot....got a few more pimples after walking for so long...*pinching one of those on her face*

Not a bad job, having arrived there at 8:30am- we thought we had enough time to get to the Johor Bahru train station.�

While the counter for Malaysians entering Malaysia was quick like anything, we waited 15 minutes for our turn. When we were nearly finished, we had scarcely 10 minutes to get to the train station.�

Quite scary, actually.

Lesson:

Always plan to have lots of time to get across the Causeway.
